Accents in Shiantar

I was thinking earlier, about accents in Shaintar.

What accents belong to which countries? I was thinking Sky Island natives might speak with a north east england or cornish accent - both go well with piratish speech patterns; which would be common there due to the islands history.

Thoughts?

Olaran is Germanic, Camon is French, Galean is (proper) British, Freelands of Celtic vibe, Goblinesh is Slavic, Elvish is...well, Elvish (think Tolkien), Dwarvish is dwarvish (again, Tolkien), Desert Princes is Arabic, Malakar is a cosmopolitin region, but I would say something akin to Morroco maybe (blend of dialects). Nazatir would be Indien esq maybe (that one we need a good description on). So far as Kal-A-Nar and Shaya'Nor I am not sure.

This is as I understand it.

Anyone else know better?

I honestly thought that Nazatiran would be Mediterranean in tone, esp. Spanishesque.

I really, really want the Dregordians to have a Valley Girl type 'accent.'

Nazatir is usually Spanish.  Malakar is Italian.  Kal-a-Nar is Scandinavian.

The Dregordian accent is just heavy on the sibilants.

I don't think there's an established Shaya'Nor accent; it usually plays out like normal Elvish.

Back to the OP, what accent would natives to Sky Island have?

I would imagine it would be mix of:

Nazatir (predominant)

Korindian

Freelander

Malakaran

with whatever drifts from the Wildlands.

It would be pidgeon forms of dominant languages.

Obviously, descendants of the mainland would speak a very muddy version of Galean with so many borrowed words as to be unintelligable to most mainlanders.

I'm sure the port towns would just be a huge hubub of various languges. Is there a Governement? If so, that would be the "official" language. But, like the Normon conquest, just because French was the official language did not mean that only a tiny fraction of the population spoke it.

Sky Island would be something akin to this confusing linguistic adventure.

That would be a nightmare to someone without the smarts to have a bunch of lanugages.

Est Sularus oth Mithas.

The capital Starcross would certainly Galean I thjnk,  and you can get by there with just that, but with a smattering of other words from various languages.

The west of the island and Pirate Cove would probably be a mix of Nazitir and Freelander.

It really is just as well Lookout Point has a resident linguist.

I'd peg Sky Island as Nazatiran-tinged Freelander accent for most of the natives.  Influence from Malakar could be there; I don't see a lot of Korindian in there, just because (other than Salamander Island) they don't get out much, the isolationist ponces. ;)
